About the Artist
Brian began his art career after he and his wife raised three sons and he retired from full time employment. Brian had been involved in the building trades and housing industry from 1972 until 2014. Since retiring, Brian has had the time to explore his interest in the arts, particularly in repurposing materials and in saving vintage plumbing and lighting parts and other materials from the scrapyard. In 2015 Brian was awarded a free booth in Baltimore’s Artscape festival as an “Emerging Artist”. Artscape is the country’s largest free arts festival and provided Brian with his first public exposure to the local arts community and gallery owners. Later that year Brian was accepted into several juried art shows, including The American Visionary Arts Museum’s “Bazaart” show and sale. Brian is currently a self-employed artist in Baltimore City doing business as “FunKtionally RePurposed”. Brian’s focus is working with metals. He recycles, repurposes and upcycles new, used, and salvaged materials into artistic creations that have a functional use. His materials come primarily from the local area with much of his material coming from demolished city rowhomes.Brian Devlin website View Website Brian Devlin website View Gallery Brian Devlin website Purchase Art
