Christopher P. Sloan

Design / Digital, Painting, Public Art, Visual / Media

Christopher P. Sloan enjoys exploring the grey areas where art meets science. He is committed to pioneering ways of expressing ideas about science and our universe that are not inherently visual.
Sloan believes that artists have an important role to play in encouraging interest in science and communicating ideas to the public. He feels that this is especially critical now since we face so many challenges and need to act as a global community to address them.
Sloan suggests that artists should consider shifting from an art world paradigm of "art for art's sake" to art practices that advocate for a better future and point toward solutions. He calls this new paradigm "art for our sake."
Although he works primarily in oils, Sloan is interested in exploring how digital technology, such as 3D modeling, 3D printing, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality can be incorporated into his artwork.
