This image is my testament to the beauty and precious nature of life. Life hangs in a delicate balance between our ability to destroy or preserve. Our world is precious: cherish and protect it.

Lost

This image is from my photo essay Bedlam, that documents remaining traces of the lives of the residents of Forest Haven, a facility for the developmentally disabled. Through dramatic and stark images, I wanted to call attention to the plight of those who lived (and died) at the facility. The residents were kept out of view and forgotten by the government and the public for 40 years. After years of mismanagement and abuse, the families of the residents successfully sued to close the facility and find other housing for the surviving residents. The personal effects of the former residents can still be found blowing in the wind through the empty hallways.
I published this photo essay in 2020, in a book titled Bedlam, exploring Forest Haven in more depth. This book is available now on Amazon.

Amazing things happen every day. You never know where or when some astounding scene will unfold right in front of you. For example: you might be visiting the Lincoln Memorial and a ghostly horse might appear. I just hope you are ready with your cell phone or camera. Be ready – the world is a magical place.

Free the Jellyfish
digital print on fine art archival paper
2022
I visited the Baltimore Aquarium and saw the Jellyfish. They were beautiful and surreal, pulsing around in their aquarium. But it seemed to me they were trapped in glass boxes and trying to get away. I decided to let them out of their cages and let them roam free. So, I made these images to free the Jellyfish.
