Artist's Statement
I am an American painter, painting the American landscape. My quest has led to industrial imagery, construction, and the highway. The unassuming, environmentally brutal, and congested imagery we never look at. The product of progress, the scenery we choose not to see. The complexity and contradiction of the American landscape promotes an aesthetic response that reflects on humanity, the environment, and on the dynamics of these metaphor-rich narratives. As we daily navigate our way through the landscape we have created, we can choose to see, or not. The beauty of truck in landscape is that truck is landscape. Industry is landscape. My painting asserts the primal relationships of man and his environment. We must embrace the obvious to understand the human condition. This is our landscape.Featured Work
