Jasmin was born in Baltimore and developed a passion for fine arts at a young age. She went on to attend George Washington Carver Center for the Arts and Technology, in Towson,MD, where she studied drawing and painting. Here she developed a traditional style of painting and developed a passion for creating portraits. In 2007 she won a Gold Key/ Regional Award in the Scholastics Art and Writing Competition for an oil painting. After graduating in 2008, she attended Frostburg State University where she studied graphic design. Jasmin eventually transferred to Towson University in 2009 and went on to graduate in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Art and Design. As an artist, Jasmin has always been interested in portraiture and fascinated with capturing realism through her drawings. These detailed drawings consist of different topics including politics, culture, music, and social issues.  She hopes to convey the emotion of the subject while evoking the same feeling upon the viewer. Through her paintings, she explores unique ways to express what she is feeling at the moment whether it was through a realistic painting or an abstract painting. She hopes to use her art and creative talents to inspire others. Jasmin previously worked as the lead the graphic designer at Vape Dojo in Baltimore, Maryland, where her primary responsibility was working with the marketing team to establish brand identity through the creation of marketing materials, label designs, promotional campaigns and iconic logos. She is currently a freelance designer. She has also launched a limited run of "Queen" sand "King" ahirts based on her drawings "Lost Queen," and "Lost King",  which promotes black excellence and self awareness. Artist's Statement

As an artist, I'm driven and inspired by black opulence, my childhood, popular music, politics and social issues. My love for black excellence, 90's pop culture, contemporary art and traditional art history teachings has led me to combine traditional oil portraits of various icons with vibrant, yet bold and erratic backgrounds. Our history and the richness of African American culture has always been an inspiration. I've always been interested in portraiture and fascinated with capturing realism through my art. Through my paintings, I also explore unique ways to express my artistic struggles and what I am feeling at the moment.
