Artist Statement. My chosen medium started with theater. Actors and Actresses ' mastery of expression has always fascinated me; when adding those expressions to music it becomes a visual that lives in your subconscious forever. The songs and videos I've produced tell stories, the expression and music combined are meant to invoke intense feelings and reflections. My art is not explaining life but engaging the audience in a conversation about life and how we are all a part of it in a literal way. My last project 'Ego Death' delves into what it means for us to die and be reborn in true confidence. The art I tend to make aligns with that same topic; Life, death, journey, repeat.

Artist's Statement

My work is coming into a place of its own. As a young vocalist at Baltimore School for the Arts, I never thought I would be working with mediums of film, poetry, and visual art. My first project 'Ego Death' was a stylistic and successful way of getting the message of true confidence across from my experience. I plan on doing more raw films and documentaries that explore where our Ego has taken us and where the death of it will lead us.

This is one picture from a collection of pictures I took. The title of the collection is called 'Colorful Black Men'. This collection shows a variety of black men with colorful flowers, expressing themselves freely. Some of the pictures are in black and white showing the more subtle solemn side of these beautiful black men. This picture is called 'Joy through B&W', the model's name is Devin.

The visuals in the poem 'This Love Be' represent all the many forms that love comes in. From romantic love to love at the end of life. I wanted to accurately represent how love as shown itself to me and how I see it in others. Having a certain passion or fight for life is love as well and I just wanted to capture all of that in this scenes.

    There are pieces of us that fight at every turn; pieces that get jealous, angry, or cocky. I've found that those pieces are part of the ego and it is how I choose to kill the ego that decides how I move forward. 'Ego Death' is a song about killing the false self; I call 'Ego Death' a visual rebirth and the goal was to capture the many forms of metamorphosis while killing ego in order for true confidence to arise inside of self.
