I have been a musician and entertainer for most of my life. Writing and performing songs brings me joy, and part of the reason I do it is to share that joy. Music also allows me to express emotions, stories and ideas, and I hope that the listener can find something in my songs that they can relate to and perhaps find helpful in some way. When I had my daughter years ago, my musical palette changed dramatically and the things I cared about were suddenly so different. I shifted to writing songs about the state of being a child. I wanted to reflect what my daughter cared about or needed to learn so I wrote songs about counting, pretending, ABC’s, bluebirds and bottles of sunshine. The possibilities were endless because my daughter’s experiences and imagination were new and fresh and seemingly endless. Years later, I still work with children and write music for and with them in the classroom. I feel that sharing music and encouraging musical creativity is not only a way to stimulate young minds, but also to make learning much more fun. Plus, ideas stick better when done to a melody, (see the ABC song or “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”), and that’s what I set out to do.

Artist's Statement
My music has been used in movies, on kid-friendly and adult TV shows and award-winning cartoons. The simplest songs lend themselves to finger play and help in fine motor skills for the youngest learners; other songs help express ideas on an academic and social emotional level. My Milkshake catalog extends over five award-winning albums for children, including a Grammy nomination for the Great Day album release, and many of these songs find their way into my teaching.Featured Work

ARTIST WORKSHOP:
"Music All Around Us! - A 45-minute workshop for families, classrooms (multi or single groups) and libraries - This workshop is designed to cultivate mindfulness, curiosity, imitation, and creative expression, all while drawing inspiration from the captivating sounds of nature, animals, weather and human-made environs. These sounds, derived from our natural environment, inherently encompass the core building blocks of what we recognize as music. Throughout the workshop, we will briefly explore these fundamental musical elements, including pitch, rhythm, melody, tempo, and volume. Armed with this knowledge, participants will gain the ability to discern these elements in the music that envelops us daily. The workshop will guide attendees through diverse soundscapes, taking them on an auditory journey, culminating in an imaginative experience where they immerse themselves in one specific soundscape and produce the sounds one might expect to encounter within it. $500.
INTERACTIVE MUSIC DANCE PARTY:
The "Shake It Up Jam" is a highly interactive KID-FRIENDLY dance party. Unlike most djs who simply play great music, Lisa is out in the audience encouraging people to dance along. She and her team use all kinds of kid-friendly props - scarves, bubbles, ribbon sticks, confetti, flowers and more- to create an atmosphere of joy for kids and their caregivers to dance in and with each other. Lisa can also cultivate special themes to coordinate to events and times, i.e. science theme, holidays. Price varies, depending on number of sets and venue size.
