About the Artist
I am Bharatanatyam dancer recently moved to Maryland few months ago and have been looking for opportunities to showcase my art. I began my training in the Indian classical dance form at the age of 6 and went on to pursue Master of Arts (Bharatanatyam) in the University of Pune. I completed my masters receiving a Gold Medal (for ranking first) with the guidance of my teacher Dr. Parimal Phadke, under whom I've trained for the past 10 years. I came to USA two years ago to work as a teacher for Mudra Arts Center, USA. Dance is my greatest passion and I enjoy every aspect of it. "Dance is the hidden language of the soul" is a quote I believe in. I have choreographed and performed in various dance festivals in India and USA; to name a few - Haridasa festival - organised by SSVT Maryland in Oct 2018; DCIDR showcase 2017 in Pune, India; Cuttack Mahotsav 2016 in Orissa, India and many others. Now, I wish to focus more on choreography & performance and would like to showcase my work to the audience here.Artist's Statement
