About the Artist
Maria Mendoza was born in Miami, Florida and is a cross-disciplinary visual and performing artist based in Baltimore, Maryland. Maria earned her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) where she studied Fiber Art, Interactive Media, Performance Art and Creative Writing.
Her current body of work, Transcentricity is a series of mixed media collage paintings, which combines the abstract and the exact. The works in this series are loose but controlled; improvised but calculated. Transcentricity is developed from a process of simultaneous layering. Building and cycling through several pieces at a time, the cyclical process of creating is reflected and integrated in the final composition of multi-dimensional concentric circles.
Maria Mendoza has collectors nationwide and has exhibited in Miami, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C.
