 Meredith Johnson is the author of the award-winning children's book, Just Momma and Just Like Daddy. She is the recipient of the 2022 Maryland Independent Artist Award for Literary Art. She recently published her latest book, Adeline Visits the Library.  Meredith believes it's an honor to write for children to help their imaginations and world perspectives grow. She hopes children find their own adventures hiding within her stories.

Artist's Statement

My latest book, Adeline Visits the Library was created to help kids understand the importance of kindness to one another. It features Adeline, a spunky and courageous girl who loves to read and uses her imagination and kindness to help a friend in need. Children of all ages can learn a true lesson in kindness from this amazing little girl!

Ethan and Tyler love to pretend. By putting on their favorite costumes and using their amazing imaginations, they are instantly transported to other places and become different people. One morning, their Momma asks if she can join in. As firefighters, superheroes, Vikings, pirates, and Samurai; Ethan, Tyler, and their Momma find adventure and challenges along the way. They discover that through the power of imagination they can learn to be brave and overcome any situation when they work together. In the end, the boys find out they love her most when she's just momma.
Meet Adeline, a spunky, daring, and always caring little girl who knows the library is the key to exploring worlds she's always wanted to see. Her love of books is contagious, the librarians know her by name, and when she sits with her huge pile of books to read, she knows her day will never be the same. But when boy from school comes into the library with a sad look and says he won't read a book, Adleine wants to know why and really wants to help him try. Through her love of stories, and a touch of imagination, Adeline will help him to see how wonderful books can truly be. In this kindhearted, rhyming story, Adeline helps young readers understand that a bit of imagination and kindness can be every kid's superpower.
Ethan and Tyler love to pretend. By holding ordinary objects and using their big imaginations, they take themselves to faraway places filled with fun and adventure. One afternoon Ethan and Tyler ask their Daddy to pretend with them. Together they travel to the jungle, the deep sea, space, a car race, and even Mount Everest! But not every adventure goes as planned, making Ethan and Tyler wish they were home instead. Daddy shows them it's ok to be scared and together they find out just how strong they can be; and that it's fun to try new things. In the end, Ethan and Tyler find out they want to be just like Daddy.
