Monica Milton

Drawing, Painting, Visual / Media

Monica Milton is a self-taught emerging artist who works in acrylic and oil paint on canvas as well as colored and graphite pencil on Bristol paper.

About the Artist

Monica Milton's love of art began when she was a child as she loved to draw cartoons and people.   As time went on, she strayed away from the arts to pursue her passion for helping people in the legal profession.  However, she never abandoned her desire to create and began drawing again in 2013 and then taught herself to paint in 2016.  As she connected with the local art community, she was able to showcase her art at local lounges and restaurants.  She was later invited to participate in the 39th Street Gallery Black History Month exhibit in 2020 at the Gateway Arts Center, the "Reveal" exhibit in 2021 at Epic Yoga in DC, and was selected for her first solo exhibition in 2022 at the Publick Playhouse in Cheverly, MD.  In 2023 her work has been featured in The 3rd in Columbia, MD, SheDC art exhibition at La Cosecha, and Create Arts Center in Silver Spring, MD.

Artist's Statement

Monica's work is primarily a celebration of color, women, darker complexions, simplicity and adorable children.
