About the Artist
Our life’s journey takes us through so many changes and to many places, and so it is with my artwork, which evolves on an ongoing basis.
I am inspired by, and love to paint and draw from nature; always looking to explore the impact of color and to highlight the juxtaposition of darks and lights - how one enhances and beautifies the other. I create vibrant outdoor scenes and dramatic portraits, mostly using oils, watercolor and graphite.
Raised and educated in the UK, I was immersed in art from a young age by my mother and father who were respectively, an oil painter and watercolorist and completed my first oil painting aged 12. I am largely self-taught and after relocating to Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania in 2002, I studied and was mentored by Karl Kuerner III https://www.karljkuerner.com/ for several years, and participated in local art shows and art galas. Since moving to Maryland, I have attended the open studio sessions at the Academy Art Museum in Easton, and taken classes and workshops with Bernie Dellario, Bradford Ross, Diane DuBois Mullaly, Barrie Barnett and Katie Cassidy.
I am currently a member of the Working Artists Forum (of which I will shortly be Vice President) and also of the St Michaels Art League. My website https://www.naomiclarkturnerart.com/ has my most current works, including those for sale and earlier works can be found at https://nclarkturner.shutterfly.com/.
