Artist's Statement

My painting is a reflection of my inner life. Since I prefer not to talk about what I feel, I paint. I consider color, one of my primary concerns, powerful. Strong color creates the kind of emotional statement I want to make. Abstract figures and masklike heads create a sense of alienation. The figures rarely interact and are therefore isolated from each other and their surroundings. The characters are true loners. My primary medium is oil paint because I feel that it can create a raw, uncontrolled atmosphere.
