About the Artist

Artist's Statement Richard Schatz I am a watercolor artist living on Annapolis , MD My passion for painting grew out of my passion for drawing which started early in life. The idea of recreating an image on paper just seemed to be a natural extension of what I saw or could create in my mind. Adding color, via watercolor, was the next step. My first realization of coloring my images started out in reproducing maritime images as you can see by this exhibit. Some of these works go back twenty years. Thanks to some of the artists I have studied with at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, like Christine O'Neil, Laura Dixon and Lee Boynton, I have extended my art to include still life and also "Plein Air" subjects.
