About the Artist
I am married. Adult children and grandchildren. Disabled by a vehicle accident. I have had seven back surgeries. Unable to work in banking, I have been reinventing myself since 1990. I am officially retired and crafting jewelry as a business. In 2022, I sponsored the crafting of jewelry for the women’s shelter I coordinated. The jewelry was sold in their thrift ministry. Despite the modest pricing, the jewelry didn’t sell well in that venue. All of the expense had been mine. All of the leftover stuff was mine. Disappointed but undaunted, I continued to create and sell jewelry. I sell jewelry at free pop up venues such as 1st Friday in Snow Hill and 3rd Friday in Salisbury. The money I make at the pop ups helps pay for other venues. I have had an awakening. Found something I have the talent for. When I reflect on my life, I have always had the talent. In the background while I earned a living. I make jewelry using different media. Wire and beading are my favorite medium. I was stumbling a bit in 2022. Finding my way. Making friends. It has been wonderful if not lucrative. I have learned so much. Made connections. Met wonderful and helpful people. I registered my business and pay my sales tax. I already have several venues set for 2023. My jewelry was on exhibit at the Salisbury University ArtSpace gallery for December. I have a consignment arrangement with them and a great place to work on my jewelry. But good intentions do not feed the bulldog!Artist's Statement

Engare (water) Angels
Paper, wood w/ Sterling or Gold-filled findings. Colors and shapes vary
2022
Earrings designed with beads made from magazine paper. Beads are sourced directly from Kenya through Water is Life-Kenya. They are a nonprofit that among other missions, drills wells for the Maasai villages. The beads are made by the villagers. They no longer have to spend the day walking miles for water to feed the cattle. The beads and other hand crafted items support their lives in many ways. Such as sending the children to school.
There are other designs. I designed the angels to be symbolic of the work of the ministry- each is a one of a kind item.
