About the Artist
Artist Tony Cornwell lives in Little Orleans, MD. He started collecting “treasures” that he would find at flea markets, etc. while he was searching for old barn wood, windows, doors and hardware for his historic remodeling jobs. His work centers on using these found objects to construct robots, beings and ominous creatures. His ability to visualize the finished product is the key to everything he does – even the simplest project. He sees beauty and character in old stuff and loves to repurpose and reinvent. From old pulleys, flashlights, poultry feeders, antique hardware, trunks, and farm tools, he creates quirky creatures. Some are whimsical, some have a sci-fi influence, some are functional; yet most are menacing. Tony has won awards at several galleries in the Western Maryland region. He is also the owner of Cornwell Remodeling & Restoration and Locust Post Brewery, both located in Little Orleans.Featured Work
