About the Artist

Tracy C. Gold is a writer, freelance editor, and teacher living in Baltimore City. Two of her books will be published in 2021. "Trick or Treat, Bugs to Eat" is a picture book forthcoming from Sourcebooks eXplore about a bat trick or treating for bugs. It is illustrated by Nancy Leschnikoff. "Everyone's Sleepy but the Baby" is a board book forthcoming from Familius in 2021 which is illustrated by the marvelous Adele Dafflon. It was inspired by Tracy's daughter, who hates sleeping as much as Tracy loves it. Tracy also writes short stories, essays, poems, and novels. Her work has been published in several magazines and anthologies. When she’s not working on her own writing, she helps other people become better writers as a freelance editor and teacher. Tracy earned her M.F.A. in Creative Writing and Publishing Arts and taught writing at the University of Baltimore. She earned her B.A. in English from Duke University. Tracy loves hanging out with her toddler and playing with her horse and dog, both rescues. You can find out more about Tracy at tracycgold.com or by following her on Twitter @tracycgold.

I currently offer workshops about creative writing and publishing for any age range, drawing on my experience publishing picture books, short stories, essays, and poems, and working for a literary agent. I am happy to create custom workshops. Popular topics include plotting novels, querying agents, submitting short stories and essays to publications, and the revision process.

In 2021, I will offer school visits for students from preschool through middle school. I am hoping to book a few FREE virtual visits with public schools around the launch of my debut picture books, so please reach out if you are in that category!

These interactive visits will focus on the process of researching, writing, revising, and publishing, as seen through the lens of my two picture books, “Trick or Treat, Bugs to Eat,” forthcoming from Sourcebooks eXplore in August 2021 and “Everyone’s Sleepy but the Baby,” forthcoming from Familius. I am also happy to customize school visits. “Trick or Treat, Bugs to Eat” is about a bat trick-or-treating and includes fun rhymes and facts about bats! It would be a great book to help your class learn about wildlife and celebrate Halloween.

I am currently only planning virtual visits due to uncertainty around Covid. Hopefully in Spring 2022 we’ll be back in person!

Please contact me at tracycgold@gmail.com to start planning a workshop or visit!

I am currently only doing virtual events.

I can provide references and student evaluations upon request.
