About this Organization
Art with a Heart is a non-profit organization that provides interactive visual arts classes to underserved Baltimore area children, youth, and adults in schools, community centers, group homes, shelters, permanent housing facilities, hospitals, and senior facilities. Art with a Heart’s mission is to enhance the lives of people in need through visual art. In an effort to achieve its mission, Art with a Heart works to harness the benefits of arts education to cultivate positive changes in behavior and general attitudes among its participants. Founded in 2000, Art with a Heart has experienced steady growth, from four small classes a week to over 15,000 classes annually with a proven track record for developing creative initiatives and accessible paths to success for individuals living in Baltimore’s vulnerable communities. In addition to its core programming, Art with a Heart offers a complement of other initiatives including service-learning (both in the office and at HeARTwares, Art with a Heart’s social enterprise/retail store), a workforce development program, a leadership program, and significant community service/public art efforts. Art with a Heart has extensive experience working with diverse populations and has facilitated over 300 public art projects.
