About this Organization
BRUSH Mural Festival, founded in 2022 by three local muralists, is Baltimore's own hyper-local mural festival designed to empower the city's muralists. Created for artists, by artists, BRUSH aims to uplift the artistic community through education, engagement, and employment opportunities. Its mission is to promote economic independence among Baltimore's muralists via a comprehensive workforce development program, which includes financial literacy, mentorship, and creative business resources.
Beyond supporting artists, BRUSH seeks to enrich the community’s appreciation for public art by transforming Baltimore’s landscape into a vibrant tapestry of creativity. Through initiatives like the Public Artist Roster and Community Paint Days, residents are invited to engage with local artists, fostering a deeper connection with the muralist community. BRUSH believes in the transformative power of public art and prioritizes collaboration over competition, ensuring fair payment standards and contracts for artists. By focusing exclusively on Baltimore-based artists, BRUSH supports local economic development and celebrates the unique voices that define the city's artistic identity
