Uniting culturally diverse student musicians through educational virtual audio/video production experiences.
About this Organization
Traditionally, The Global Z Recording Project brings together talented student musicians from culturally-diverse backgrounds to create cross-cultural friendships, promote acceptance of diverse others, explores cultural influences on musical genres, teaches participants a variety of music production and tech-related skills while creating original musical works. The primary outcome is a documentary-style music video posted on our public-facing YouTube channel, "From A To Global Z." We also are steeped in education and have an extensive history of providing for real-world, cutting edge student internship opportunities at the K-12, college, and university level. As a nonprofit, we believe we should serve our community if we have the knowledge and capacity to do so. As a result, we have pivoted tangentially from our mission and conducted 'non-traditional' projects that address a variety of needs imposed by the arrival and devastation of the COVID-19 pandemic.Featured Work

Phase I Proof of Concept Project
In 2019, The Global Z Recording Project conducted its Phase I Proof of Concept Project. The Project brought together 34 student musicians from different locales across Maryland and Colorado, and created an original musical recording using virtual audio production, communication and collaboration technologies. Musicians ranged in age from middle school, to graduate students. Participants were at distances from 60-1700 miles from their recording space to the lead audio engineer. This project served as the foundation for the work we currently do.
