About this Organization
Young Artists of America at Strathmore (YAA) is a non-profit educational organization offering world-class musical theatre training to young performing artists in a professional and nurturing environment. Our students perform fully orchestrated works of musical theatre in state-of-the-art venues such as the Music Center at Strathmore, where we are an Affiliate. Through the creative process, we give students skills and confidence to “find their voice” on the stage and in life.
Each year, we serve a diverse group of 500+ students, grades 5 through pre-professional, and reach an audience of 5000+ from the DC Metro Area, with 12+ performances and 1500+ hours of classes and rehearsals. Our annual program consists of a school-year Performance Program with YAAOrchestra (60 students), YAACompany (50 students), YAAjunior (40 students); Musical Theatre Training in Voice, Dance, and Acting (100-150 students); Classical Voice for Pre-Professionals (15 students); Summer Performing Arts Intensive Programs (200 students); plus robust Community Outreach and Tuition Assistance Programs.
