Artist StatementArtist Statement: I have created art my entire life and studied in the Fine Arts DEPT of the University of Texas at El Paso from 2000-2004. Following my college years, I joined the military and had the privilege to travel and interact with many different cultures. As I have grown, these travels have emerged in my work as urban landscapes. My painting style integrates elements of abstraction to allow the viewer to make their own interpretations. My current body of work reflects a fascination with Pre- Colombian imagery and culture and is intended to bring the viewer into a more spiritual realm of gods, spirits and shadows

Born and raised in El Paso, Texas I was surrounded by the vibrant culture of the American Southwest and Northern Mexico, as a child, my family would go back and forth to visit family or shop. the bright colors and sounds filled my memories. I have been fortunate that I have lived in different places in America and traveld abroad as a member of the Armed Forces; these expreriences have directly and indirectly inspired my work.
My work is a reflection of my travels and takes in cutltures that I have encountered throughout my life. My paintings are abstract to allow freedom to the viewer to bring their own interpretations. My drawings are much more illustrative and have pop culture references pulling from comic books and science fiction.
Current work is based on Pre-Colombian imagery inspired by not only my own heritage but a longing for the mystical which I allude to with my Abstract paintings. I am Currently Stationed at FT George G Meade.
