Artist StatementI am attracted to working in mixed media/found object assemblage because I it seems particularly well suited for my artistic expression. I enjoy using a multitude of techniques and materials. This genre frees me to do this. My work is generally narrative in nature. I am especially fond of creating within each piece a small world for the viewer to explore. Much of my work deals with childhood and imagined stories. I am an active member of the Maryland Federation of Art, Chairing their biennial exhibit: Eye of The Beholder: The Fine Art of The Found Object.
I was born into a family of artists. I happily grew up in a very creative environment. I enjoyed using my imagination as I played. Having no siblings, I enjoyed the company of my parents' friends, who also supported my artistic expression. I received my Bachelors degree in Fine Art from the University of New Mexico. Since moving to Maryland, I have had the opportunity to realize my dream of becoming a full-time professional artist. My work is on display in and around Annapolis and on the East Coast. My work has appeared in national juried exhibitions and has been honored with numerous awards. My work is also maintained in private collections throughout the country.
