Artist StatementNature and the environment inspire me. I work primarily in watercolors.
Christina L. Allen lives in southern Maryland on a small farm, with her cat, flock of sheep, rare Jersey Buff heritage turkeys, and heritage chickens.
She has been a professional artist for over 35 years. She has written and/or illustrated three children's books. Her first two books have won three national gold book awards: The Indie Award for Excellence in Children's Books, a Moonbeam Gold Book Award, and the Mom's Choice National Book Award. She has a new micro-publishing business called Corn Crib Publishing. The rural life and the beautiful Chesapeake Bay find their way into many of her paintings.
Both Christina and her husband are avid gardeners so plants, trees and flowers are also an important part of her life and work. They also practice sustainable farming.
