Senator Ronald Young

Senator Young was first elected to the Maryland State Senate in 2010, and has been a member since 2011. He has served the Senate in these capacities: 

  • 2019 Chair, Executive Nominations Committee
  • 2011- Education, Health, and Environmental Affairs Committee
  • 2019 Chair, Environment Subcommittee of the Education, Health, and Environmental Affairs Committee

Other public service has included the Complete Streets Program Workgroup (2018– ), Maryland Comptroller's "Reform on Tap" Task Force (2017) and the Governor's Advisory Council on Hereditary and Congenital Disorders (2015–).

Previously, Senator Young served as Mayor (1974-1990) and Alderman (1970-1974) of the city of Frederick.  He is a native of Frederick MD and has been a member of the MD State Arts Council since 2019.
