Artist's Statement

I create Experimental Flamenco Dance by deconstructing the traditional form, while devising new ways of moving as a contemporary Flamenco dancer. Through extensive improvisation and collaborations, I evolve, reframe, and re-contextualize the idea of Flamenco dance. Sharing stories and ideas is often central to my performances, including topics of social justice, inequality, history, and contemporary culture. Interdisciplinary approaches are often central to my process, with influences from modern dance, experimental music, and visual art. My work is sometimes comical, serious, or reflective, but always connects deeply with audience through a shared experience of emotion and physicality.
