I transform trash into art. Shouldn't we all? Wouldn't the World be a better place with more art and less trash?
There is a strong emphasis and interest to my personal art for the recycling of found objects- the material waste from other processes, and/or discarded objects with historic imagery, and what that can suggest.
Though I have personal visions to pursue, I also love the collaborative process and working with others / helping others achieve artistic goals and/or projects needing creative design resources to advance and succeed.
About the Artist
I have had an interdisciplinary studio practice for 35+ years with works that include assemblage - furniture or household items - public art & installations - painting & graphic design comingled with digital-photo techniques. Concurrently I have worked as a production artisan or used applied visual presentation techniques to support my other vocational track. The production experience has included technical theater (set & scenic design, properties, posters), museum exhibit work, visual merchandising for regional retailers, art framing --- all of which have influences thereupon reflected in my personal work. Mixed media - plastic packaging and paint
2000
Created for a show titled 'Recycle Millenia', this piece is one of an ongoing series.
The work re-uses 70 pieces of plastic product packaging, painted then collaged into a framed space.
When this piece was displayed in a gallery setting or elsewhere, I've seen how this piece becomes something of a guessing game with people quizzing each other about what had been inside each of these shapes. I also hope it serves as an environmental statement, asking a viewer to reconsider how much packaging waste we encounter on a daily basis.
