My paintings express moments in time when there are feelings of bliss or freedom, and I freeze these beautiful moments on canvas. I rely on my heart and mind to achieve harmony in my art, and I am very fond of historic and scenic places as sources of inspiration. I also create from my imagination.
Currently, I have found passion in representational paintings, symbolized in my cityscape and seascape paintings. I apply lively acrylic colors on canvas, using as many details as my eyes can see, to bring them to life and brighten someone’s day.

About the Artist

Aicy Karbstein is an Award-Winning contemporary American painter, born in Brazil. As a teenager, she took art classes, including drawing of live models, at 'Pinacoteca do Estado de Sao Paulo'. She then went on to study Advertising, and worked as an intern in the Creation Department of an Ad Agency doing illustrations. Aicy’s fascination for painting has grown exponentially since then, with her passion fanned by exposure to several style of paintings, frequent visits to the Louvre in Paris and the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, among others. While a business owner in the music entertainment field for two decades, she painted as a hobby and as a healing meditative technique to relax and recover from the stress of the business world. After closing down her music business, she felt compelled to focus exclusively on fine art, and has compiled a large collection, painting professionally since 2014. Relying on various techniques to achieve her goals, a combination of Expressionism and Abstract are visible in some of her works, although she is currently known for her many Representational paintings. Aicy is a member of AnnMarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center, IGOR-International Guild of Realism, WMG-Woman Made Gallery, NOAPS-National Oil & Acrylic Painters' Society, SMCAC-Saint Mary's County Arts Council and St. Mary's County Chamber of Commerce. Most of her works are in private art collections throughout the USA and in Brazil.

Panda bears invoke peace and harmony, as some of their auspicious symbols. Bamboo is the pandas main source of food. The bamboo plant is known for its incredible flexibility and strength, therefore, it teaches us to "bend without breaking".
During one of my travels to Mazatlan, Mexico, I enjoyed the amazing sunsets over the Pacific Ocean. The trees on the beach add to the feeling of peace and amazement. I am so grateful to the splendor of nature!
In this painting, I am featuring the 100 block of King Street, Alexandria, VA, USA, with several restaurants and businesses, going toward the Potomac River. Among the restaurants are "Il Porto", "The Wharf", "Landini Brothers", "Bugsys", "The Fish Market", etc. I also added Ford, Honda, and Subaru cars among others, as well as an American Airlines airplane flying over the Potomac, on final approach to Ronald Reagan National Airport.
This fascinating show of lights and electricity in the sky was witnessed by the artist in the late afternoon, observing the silhouette of the city and the Washington Monument in Washington DC.
