Artist's Statement
In my sculpture, I explore transformation and interpretation. The vast possibilities of the everyday relationships, artifacts, and symbols around us guide my creative endeavors. Whether it’s transforming old into new, the complex into the simple, or redefining the known into the unfamiliar, my work is rooted in observation and the conviction that we all have the power to reinvent ideas, objects, and beliefs into something that is our own.Featured Work

Eight Masks

“Eight Masks” explores the concept of the “archetype” and its relationship with the natural world. The individual panels that make up the whole of the piece, each representing a unique expression or mood, are united through the harmony of color. The eight “archetypal” colors employed serve to explore the boundless interpretation of our conscious and subconscious selves, and how our feelings and emotions connect to the natural world.

Flame Effect is an abstract study of the eternal light -- the light that "shall not go out. A geometric reduction of that flame, the sculpture "Flame Effect" endeavors to represent the hope and peace that the eternal flame represents.
Onda II
Oil and polyurethane on assembled wood mounted on granite.
2018
“Onda II” is freestanding pedestal sculpture of wood and stone. Portuguese for “wave,” the piece is inspired by the musical genre of Bossa Nova. In this work, I endeavored to capture the essence of the “new wave.” Cool tones, improvisation, and cadence dominate this piece, which combines the lyricism and rhythms of the Samba with the structure and beat of Jazz.
