About the Artist

Alex Lacquement is a Baltimore-based bassist, composer, and cultural organizer working at the intersection of American roots music and community life. His playing is grounded, lyrical, and rhythmically alive, drawing from jazz, bluegrass, old-time, and folk traditions, and reflecting a deep commitment to music that is both technically refined and socially connective. Lacquement performs widely across North America with the acoustic roots quartet Charm City Junction and with artists including Ken & Brad Kolodner, Rusty Sal and others. His work has brought him to stages such as The Kennedy Center, Mountain Stage, Philadelphia Folk Festival, Grey Fox, DelFest, and beyond, and he has shared the stage with artists including Natalie Merchant, Tom Paxton, and Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer. Lacquement is a strings music teacher at the Waldorf School of Baltimore, where his educational practice centers on aural learning, ensemble playing, and music as an embodied, communal experience. Central to his broader artistic practice is community engagement. Through Music on the Square and Baltimore Honky Tonk, he curates concerts, jams, and social dances that invite participation, intergenerational exchange, and joy. Whether performing, composing, teaching, or organizing, Lacquement’s work seeks to strengthen Baltimore’s musical ecosystem and reaffirm music as a shared cultural resource.
