About the Artist
Alexandra Slezak began her creative journey in Maryland, USA, studying the traditions of photography and charcoal drawing, but after experiments with art and consciousness, found catharsis in creating mixed-media paintings and found-object sculptures concerned with sustainability. Observations in nature and meditation inspire her paintings, that illustrate an alignment achieved between our inner and outer landscapes. Through an emphasis on the materials and the processes themselves, textures and abstractly familiar forms coexist on the canvas to create scenes from a niche somewhere in-between the real and unreal, accompanied by imagery from natural and metaphysical realms. Beyond painting, Alexandra creates sculptures from reused materials such as synthetic corks, hub caps, and scrap bike parts. Some of these sculptures are intended to be collectively completed in a community setting to build awareness of our environmental impact as consumers. Her sculpture work is created with the intention of directly working towards a greener, kinder world and enabling sustainability education and outreach through direct community engagement in the arts.Alexandra Slezak website View Website Alexandra Slezak website Purchase Art
