About the Artist

Hi! My name is Amanda Hagerman and I'm a former high school art teacher turned full-time artist and metalsmith. Each piece of jewelry created in my studio is crafted using a variety of traditional and old world metalsmithing techniques. I love what I do and am passionate about designing beautiful, quality pieces of jewelry for you to enjoy! When you purchase my jewelry, you're purchasing precious handcrafted works of art. These works of art become woven into the fabric of your life, spanning from the day-to-day to the meaningful milestones. Jewelry is intimate. It expresses who you are. Let me be a part of your story!    Amanda was born and raised in the small rural town of Hughesville, Pennsylvania. In addition to her teaching degree, she earned a B.F.A. in Fine Metals from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania in 2008. She currently works and resides in the suburbs outside of Washington, DC where she enjoys spending her free time with her husband Adam and two rescue kitties, Henry Aaron and Harper Lee.  All pieces are designed and made by hand, exclusively by Amanda in her studio.

Artist's Statement

Growing up surrounded by the mountainous landscapes of rural Pennsylvania, I have always been drawn to the rugged quality and deep rooted history that rocks, ridges and ravines embody. I feel a deep connection to places in the landscape where sharp, rigid points meet the ebb and flow of nature’s organic forms, marred over time by mother nature herself and all living things that grace their surfaces. The texture and pattern in this rocky, crust-like terrain fascinates me. It brings me peace and centers me spiritually. It's these vast irregularities formed by rock and earth that deeply influence the aesthetic of my work. My jewelry collection takes on an ancient, yet timeless tone when merging these characteristics together. It stands out in bold, yet sophisticated ways with an edgy quality that is both figurative and literal. Rock like surfaces that mimic the uneven ridges of the landscape are applied to plunging triangles and other carefully composed geometric shapes to create fashion forward pieces that are fun and versatile to wear. Each piece in the collection is individually handcrafted through either lost wax casting or hand fabrication. I only use precious metals, gems, stone, and minerals acquired through responsible and ethical practices. My intent is that each piece displays the maker’s mark and seamlessly relates visually to the elements that inspire me, while maintaining a chic and refined allure.
