About the Artist

Anabel Milton (she/her/hers) is a Silver Spring-based actor, singer, and teaching artist who believes strongly in the power of the arts and storytelling to foster connection, community, and empathy among human beings. Anabel has been involved in theater and music since childhood, and her early experiences sparked a love of the arts and lifelong learning. A graduate of Skidmore College, where she earned a BS in Theater and BA in Psychology, Anabel is a classically trained singer, and has studied a variety of musical styles over the course of fifteen years, including opera, musical theater, and jazz. She expanded her musical horizons further by exploring international folk music during her three years touring with Village Harmony, an educational organization dedicated to the study, performance and celebration of diverse styles of traditional choral music. Anabel has studied acting at Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA, the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, Ireland, and at the InterHarmony Music Festival in Acqui Terme, Italy. She joined the Acting Company of the Maryland Renaissance Festival in 2019, and has performed regionally with several DMV area theaters, including Strand Theater, InterAct Story Theatre, Grassroots Shakespeare DC, The Victorian Lyric Opera Company, Silver Spring Stage, and others.  Anabel has also spent her life working with children, and has for many years in a variety of roles and with students of all ages and abilities. She is a teaching artist for several theater companies throughout the DMV, including InterAct Story Theatre, Imagination Stage, Signature Theatre, and Baltimore Shakespeare Factory, and when she is not teaching, she works to facilitate youth programming at the National Theatre in DC, both for families with children aged 3-6 and high school students. Anabel feels very fortunate to have the opportunity to combine her love of theater with her passion for working with young people, and has become very drawn to children’s theater and Theater for Young Audiences as an actress. She also hopes to use her studies in psycholinguistics, clinical psychology, and child development to continue advocating for accessibility in theater spaces and in theater for young audiences. Anabel is deeply passionate about trauma relief, crisis prevention, and promotion of mental health awareness for youth, and hopes to be an advocate in her work for individuals struggling with depression and anxiety.
