Artist's Statement
Art making has always been part of my life. Early on I discovered that it could bring connection and a great deal of joy to the people around me, and by extension, bring the world closer. I have been involved over the years in teaching art in schools in East Africa, the UK and US, as well as in museums and galleries. I am thrilled by the magnificent histories of Objects, what they reveal about their makers, what stories they bring to mind. I enjoy teaching, and see it as much my art form, as the painting and drawings. It demands I see with fresh eyes. My own ceramics, painting and drawing practice celebrates nature, and the more gentle footfall of life, it whispers its discoveries.
