About the Artist
Anna Child (b. Camden, SC) is an artist committed to the act of discovery inherent in her abstract painting process. Doubt, not knowing, and being lost are essential elements of this process. She studied painting at the New York Studio School and Maryland Institute of Art, and spent a year studying rice paintings in Varanasi, India. She was a 2 year Core Fellow at Penland School of Crafts in Penland, NC. Over the past several years, she has been concentrating on defining what painting means to her. In 2024 she received a Maryland State Arts Council grant, and was an artist in residence at Byrdcliffe in Woodstock, NY, and at the Vermont Studio Center. She lives and works in Baltimore, MD.Featured Work
