April "LadyByrd" Byrd is an entrepreneur, inventor and a Disabled US Navy Veteran, from Paterson NJ. After serving our country honorable for 8 years, she and her family settled in the Washington DC metropolitan area.
April has been a photographer for more than 20 years. She felt the need for more positive imagines of Blacks in America. So she added her voice through her photography. She dusted off her camera and went to work, pursuing her passion for photography. It didn’t take long for April to find a neiche and fill it. Her life experiences have culminated in her establishing and sharing this thought-provoking series entitled "I AM NOT MY HAIR".
April randomly throughout her daily routine where ever she may be would approach strangers with natural hair and request permission to photograph them.
