About the Artist
A native of Cambridge, Maryland, Ashley began her musical journey at 10 years old playing in the fourth-grade band. As she grew older, music became more purposeful in her life. Her first one-on-one flute instruction was given by a flute teacher at a local music store. In high school, she frequently traveled to areas beyond her eastern shore location to participate in youth programs that helped solidify her musical foundation. Ashley became a member of the Annapolis music youth program, the DC Youth Orchestra, the Peabody Sinfonietta, and the Quince Orchard Wind Symphony. Ashley received a Bachelor's of Music in Flute Performance from James Madison University studying under the tutelage of Dr. Beth Chandler and a Master's of Music in Flute Performances from The University of Akron under the tutelage of George Pope. Currently, Ashley offers performances that cover several musical genres. She has given several performances at the Dorchester Center for the Arts; was featured as a guest flutist for the Convention of Episcopal Bishops in 2016; the Penninsula Delaware Conference of United Methodist Bishops; The Athenaeun in Alexandria, VA; Guest Artist for Howard University's 17th Annual Flute Fete; and was a featured artist at the kickoff for the Clifford Brown Jazz Festival, "Thank God For Jazz", presented at the Delaware Theatre in Wilmington, DE. She continues to accept engagements from sacred and secular institutions throughout the Delmarva Penninsula and beyond.
