About the Artist
Vibrant, Dynamic and Abstract are words to describe the soulful art of Alicia Ashley Weathersby.
She began her journey as a "primitive" artist creating jewelry. Her pieces combine crafting, fine arts, and dance techniques as vehicles to her passion and life experiences. Freed from the constraints of conventional techniques, Ms. Ashley conveys her desire to express herself and be uniquely abstract.
The dynamism in her pieces is reflective of movement in nature as well as the human body, which is vividly transformed into an abstract presentation.
Her technique is a combination of mixed medias: wire, metals, textured papers, paints, clothe and fibers married together to create a unique three-dimensional effect. Ms. Ashley favors working in collage as it allows freedom to express various aspects of her life experiences and brings her peace and contentment.
