About the Artist
Authenticity is at the heart of Audra's creative work. The undeniably bold digital and acrylic paintings that make up her latest collection demonstrate the principle of layout and composition that hse developed in her 15 years as a professional graphic designer. Each piece begins with a photo that she then digitally manipulated. Details are simplified, the boundaries between objects expanded, and the colors enhanced, often resulting in an abstract and nearly unrecognizable composition. Through this process, Audra is exploring two bigger questions about originality: is the digital manipulation of one's own work a form of self plagiarism, and, does the blending of creative and commercial methodology result in art that is at the core of Audra's creative identity? Audra Meckstroth is a commercial artist with more than 14 years of experience in graphic design, illustration, brand development and marketing. She began her art education at a young age, first apprenticing with a local painter at age 10, then continuing with formal art programs in high school and college.Featured Work
