About the Artist

Bill Stea started writing screenplays in 1999. In 2001, he was hired to teach screenwriting at Alexandria Public Schools in Virginia as an adult education course, which he did for 3 years. As a teacher, he began a Film Club for students from 4th-8th grades, which culminated in an annual school film festival. He continued the tradition as a librarian, still running a Film Club for teens at the Charles County Public Library since 2014. Several of the teens' films have entered film festivals and even won awards.  In 2015, he co-founded the Southern Maryland Film Festival. In 2020, he began teaching screenwriting at the College of Southern Maryland both to teens and adults.  He has written and directed multiple short films since 2006, several of which have been featured in film festivals.
