About the Artist

Bobbie Carlyle is an internationally renowned sculptor whose works are installed in countries around the globe. She is currently working with architects, landscape architects, land developers and art representatives on numerous other installations, commissioned pieces and fountains. Her subjects range from wildlife to Western, to figurative and liturgical sculpture. She is internationally known and recognized for her piece entitled "Self Made Man", which depicts man carving himself and his future from the raw stone from which he emerges. She recently installed a commission piece for the Los Angeles Public School District. In addition, she is one of only five artists included in the current process to create a memorial sculpture for Benjamin Banneker planned for placement within the Memorial Core of Washington, D.C. ​Earning a Fine Art degree from Brigham Young University and with over 40+ years of experience, Bobbie Carlyle’s work is influenced by Michaelangelo, Solon and Gutzon Borglum, Rodin, Daniel Chester French, and Leonardo Bistolfi.  Further, her own life’s struggles with its hard-won insights, as well as her seven children, have been inspirations to many of her works.        

Artist's Statement

The essence of Bobbie Carlyle Sculpture is “bold strength” and “provocative intelligence.”  She has forged a highly respected career in her over three decades as a renowned sculptor by creating compelling sculptures in bronze. She creates sculptures in bronze, all executed with imagination and vitality. Her subjects range from dynamic and historic figures, figurative to liturgical, wildlife to western, in sizes from maquette to monumental. She excels at getting to the crux of the moment, the inspiration behind the idea, and presenting that in her own dynamic way. These sculptures are the icons of heroes to our world and to us, as individuals, and seek to capture not only historical background, but the soul and essence of the figure.  The sculptures go beyond the immediate interpretation into the psychological aspects of self-realization, worth, and growth by using a traditional presentation with a twist.
