About the Artist
Brenda Kidera is a representational artist. Her paintings reflect a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature. Kidera captures moments in time with brushstrokes that convey the light and mood and delicate details of her subject matter. She spends hours in the field sketching, observing, and photographing, and she spends many more preparing for well-thought-out compositions from the information gathered. Her work has won many awards and has been exhibited throughout the US, including one-woman shows and major art exhibitions. Kidera has been teaching painting in watercolor, oil, and acrylic since the 1990s. Beyond a fine art degree, Kidera studied classical oil painting and has attended workshops with several nationally recognized artists. Her work has been featured in many publications. Juried Signature Artist memberships include the Washington Society of Landscape Painters, Society of Animal Artists, International Guild of Realism, American Women Artists, Baltimore Watercolor Society, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, and Potomac Valley Watercolorists. She also holds memberships in several other organizations: Oil Painters of America, National Watercolor Society, and American Watercolor Society to name a few. For many arts organizations, Kidera has taught painting classes and workshops, given lectures and painting demonstrations, and served as a juror. She continues to paint commissioned portraits, landscapes, and other subjects for a wide range of clients. Kidera’s studio is located in Woodbine, Maryland surrounded by the rural countryside, gardens, and wildlife which are the inspiration for many of her paintings. Kidera lives with her husband, metal sculptor Ed Kidera.Brenda Kidera website View Website Brenda Kidera website View Gallery Brenda Kidera website Purchase Art
Artist's Statement
I am a classical realist painter, moving freely between oil, watercolor, and acrylic in a variety of subject matter: landscape, still life, portrait, and wildlife. Passion for realism and attention to detail enable me to convey the personality and character of the subjects I paint. Strong light and luminous color are important in my work. My intention is to capture the light and atmosphere of the moment; to make the viewer take notice of the ordinary. In addition to commissioned pieces, I paint what is familiar to me – my gardens, the wildlife, people I know, and the vanishing landscape in Howard County where I have lived most of my life.Featured Work
