Artist's Statement

I typically write more than I draw or paint and nearly all of my drawings or paintings start out as something written. Even though I identify more with writers than I do visual artists, I feel visual work tends to have more of an impact. I am currently using working process of both a writer as well as a visual artist to create what I call "written images." These images do not attempt to trick the eye with nor do they try to lure the viewer with candy and magic tricks. This new body of work is a collection of reductive essays written through personal iconography.
