About the Artist
Buzz Merrick is a singer/songwriter who plays acoustic guitar, harmonica, and sings originals and covers to the delight of all ages. His experience includes time as a street performer, cafes, bars & restaurants, schools, festivals, and more. He is known for encouraging singalongs and has a special knack for entertaining children and parents.
Buzz self-published “Songbook for Social Justice” a singalong booklet with lyrics and chords of 16 songs that accompanied the resistance to war and social injustice in the 1960s and 1970s. In the tradition of Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie, and others, Buzz wrote new lyrics to some of these songs to reflect today’s continuing struggles against the forces of greed, ignorance, and violence. His goal is to rejuvenate and facilitate “hootenanny” singalongs and provide the songbook for free so that those who are concerned about today’s social and political environment can join voices in song.
