About the Artist
Camila Leão is an artist specializing in illustration, painting, public art, and illustration. Originally from Brazil, now living in Baltimore. Camila's art features vibrant colors, mixed textures and fluid elements. She has done illustrations in Baltimore Magazine, painted municipal structures in Towson-MD, designed the largest municipal lighthouse monument in Essex-MD, and worked on countless projects for a broad range of clients that include TED Countdown, University of Berkley, CA, Indigenous' Rights NGO's, music artists, small businesses, and Passport Scotch. Camila's art depicts her connection to the surrounding nature and world, as is inspired by her South American origins. Street Art in the City of Towson
Municipal Structures
2020 & 2021
Invited by the City of Towson, MD's artistic Creative Partnership to paint municipal structures downtown in a city-wide initiative to offer a creative vision into the cityscape.
The “Flower Box” and the "BGE Electric Box" initiatives are part of a campaign to bring public art directly to the people while providing both creative and economic opportunities for young artists.
It brought the public attention and it was featured on the local news. The project got the first page of The Towson Time and a full online article at the Baltimore Sun:

2020 & 2021
Lighthouse Monument, Essex-MD

Designed and illustrated the brand new lighthouse monument in a high-traffic area (30,000 people per day) in the city of Essex, Maryland to replace the iconic Essex Cube.
Contracted and financed by the Chesapeake Gateway Chamber of Commerce, this design showcases the various element's of the city's identity.
The design was featured on the front page of the local newspaper, The Peak.

Embracing Our Differences is an internationally recognized young artist program which intersects creativity, language skills, and diversity. This outdoor art exhibit on Sarasota's bay front features forty-five billboard size images (16 feet high), showcasing the talents of local and international student artists alike.
