Artist's Statement

As a mosaic and mixed media artist my wish is that people not only appreciate the whole work, but each individual piece used to create the whole. At an early age, I came to the realization that mosaics are a metaphor for life. Each person's story is made up of tiny pieces, some of which may be broken, while others may be carefully cut or crafted. Together the pieces are fashioned together to make a complete, beautiful work of art. Largely a self-taught artist, I am inspired by nature and influenced by my experiences. Each piece I create, is not only a lovely piece of art, but holds pieces of my personal story. I work mainly with stained glass, charms, broken glass, stones, china and jewelry. I love taking anything broken and making it whole by including it in a piece of work. I use both direct and indirect methods of creating using wheeled nippers, glass cutters and saws.
