About the Artist
Caroline Thorington first encountered printmaking on an Exchange Fellowship at the Akademie der bildende Kuenste in Munich Germany. She received an MFA in printmaking from George Washington University then taught printmaking and drawing at Montgomery College, MD until the end of the last Century. She has received many awards and grants including two Boston Printmakers’ Ture Bengtz Memorial Prizes, a Muskat Studios Award and several grants from the Montgomery County Arts Council, MD. Commission include a Panda Sculpture from the DC Commission , DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities’ Public Art Project, Pandamania. Her prints are in collections in Australia, Asia, Europe and North and South America. Solo shows include exhibitions at the Smithsonian Institution, DC, the Albrecht Museum of Art, St. Joseph, MO and, most recently, the BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown, MD and the Montpelier Cultural Arts Center in Laurel, MD.Featured Work
