About the Artist

I am a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art, and I work in my studio called Cat Tracks just outside of Westminster, Maryland. As a artist I work in a variety of media. Most of my subject matter has a feline and floral theme. My inspiration comes from the many gardens surrounding the studio and my two Siamese cats who oversee the studio. I have taught art for the Carroll County school system, worked in art education at McDaniel College and teach for Carroll Community College and also private lessons at Cat Tracks. I am a member of the National League of American Pen Women and I was named to the Who's Who Among America's Teachers, and also nominated as an outstanding educator in Carroll County for five years.

Artist's Statement

My work is basically a response to the love I have for nature and cats. I enjoy the batik process and the way color flows when painting with silk dyes. I can transform the colors and textures of flowers and the expression and antics of cats into something I can share with others who love and apreciate the same things I do. I am also working with the 1800's Tinsel Painting process. I have loved this process since I discovered it in the 1970's. I am introducing people to this folk art and bringing the technique into the 21st century using modern materials.
