About the Artist
I was born and raised on the Southeast shore of Long Island and began my love of art at an early age. It wasn’t until high school though that I got my first whiff of linseed oil and turpentine.
I attended The University of Tampa studying Art Management and after six years moved to New York City living on the Upper West Side where I began to explore decorative painting and eventually started my own interior decorative painting company. In 2000 I moved to Frederick Maryland and ran my painting company until 2008. I began experimenting on canvas with some of the decorative plaster I had left over from painting jobs and developed a technique and style using decorative plaster as my medium.
I’m always trying to see what I can do with this medium. It must be applied with trowels and scrapers. Brushes won’t work unless it’s for very fine line detail. I’ve found that I can do just about anything I want as long as I work with the plaster and not against it’s nature. I feel that my paintings are unique not only because of the material I use but also because 99% of them are done without a single brush stroke.
