About the Artist
Ceilon Aspensen is a contemporary American artist based in Joppatowne, Maryland, where she lives and works along the Little Gunpowder River near the Chesapeake Bay. Working primarily in watercolor, colored pencil, acrylic, and mixed media, she creates richly detailed artwork inspired by nature, memory, and the emotional resonance of everyday life.
Her artistic voice has been shaped by a lifetime of varied experiences and landscapes, including years spent in Montana and the American West, whose expansive natural environments continue to influence her work. Through landscapes, florals, animals, still lifes, and imaginative imagery, she seeks to create moments of beauty and reflection that invite viewers to reconnect with their own experiences and memories.
Aspensen holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and Graphic Design from Mississippi State University and advanced degrees from Montana State University, including a PhD focused on contemporary Native American art. Alongside her studio practice, she has spent many years as an art educator, mentoring students and emerging artists while continuing to develop and exhibit her own work.
